EU Should Press for Progress on Rights (27 Jun 2010)
Human Rights Watch - The European Union should urge reforms in the Indonesian government’s laws, policies, and practices on human rights during a bilateral meeting on human rights on June 29, 2010, Human Rights Watch said in a letter to the EU released today. The EU-Indonesia Human Rights Dialogue, which will take place in Jakarta, is the first of what will be an annual inter-governmental meeting on issues related to human rights, democratic principles, and the rule of law in Indonesia.

Asian Human Rights Commission - "So, for me, and I think also for other victims of human rights violations, when the government does nothing to solve any human rights violation cases, just like they are doing now, and act in favour of impunity, it will bring another serious result: violence is not only conducted by police, military or state agents but also civilians."

INDONESIA: Government violates international law by delaying reforms to end torture (25 Jun 2010)
Asian Human Rights Commission - A Statement by the Asian Human Rights Commission on the occasion of the UN International Day in Support of Torture Victims - June 26, 2010. In 2010, the AHRC continued to receive information on several cases of torture in Indonesia. Twelve years after the ratification of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) by the Indonesian government, there is still a routine and widespread use of torture and ill-treatment of suspects, especially in police custody.
