EU Should Press for Progress on Rights (27 Jun 2010)
Human Rights Watch - The European Union should urge reforms in the Indonesian government’s laws, policies, and practices on human rights during a bilateral meeting on human rights on June 29, 2010, Human Rights Watch said in a letter to the EU released today. The EU-Indonesia Human Rights Dialogue, which will take place in Jakarta, is the first of what will be an annual inter-governmental meeting on issues related to human rights, democratic principles, and the rule of law in Indonesia.

INDONESIA: Government violates international law by delaying reforms to end torture (25 Jun 2010)

In 2010, the AHRC continued to receive information on several cases of torture in Indonesia. Twelve years after the ratification of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) by the Indonesian government, there is still a routine and widespread use of torture and ill-treatment of suspects, especially in police custody.

Norwegian ambassador visits Papua (25 Jun 2010)
Royal Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta - Ambassador Homme and Counsellor Ragnhildstveit visited Indonesia’s easternmost province Papua 8th to 11th of June. This is the first Norwegian ambassadorial visit to the province of Papua, situated two time zones and five hours flying time from Jakarta.

HRW's torture reports may have been fabricated: Govt (25 Jun 2010)
The Jakarta Post - The Justice and Human Rights Ministry plans to take action on reports alleging the torture of Ambonese and Papuan prisoners arrested by the National Police's Detachment 88 antiterrorist squad, for having waved banned flags at rallies.
