W. Sumbawa invites Mimika to form mine association (7 Oct 2009)
Jakarta Post- West Nusa Tenggara's regency of West Sumbawa, where the PT Newmont gold mine operates, has invited Mimika regency in Papua to form a mineral-mining association in Indonesia. The two regencies will act as initiators for 37 other regencies in Indonesia that own mines.

Powerful earthquake jolts Papua Gorontalo (5 Oct 2009)
Jakarta Post- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake rocked West Papua on Sunday at 10.36 a.m. local time (12:36 p.m. Jakarta time) with no reports of casualties or damage.

Japan Ready to Fund Agriculture Activities in Merauke (5 Oct 2009)
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Japanese government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), wishes to allocate US$250 million (around Rp2.42 trillion) as funding to build supporting facilities for the development of agricultural lands in Merauke, West Papua.

Traditional council to push for national talks (2 Oct 2009)
Jakarta Post- A member of the Papuan Traditional Council (DAP) on Thursday said he hoped the new House of Representatives members from the province would soon schedule a national dialogue between the central government and Papua, as recommended by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).
