Cenderawasih Pos - The commander of the Cenderawasih/XVII military command, Major-General A.Y. Nasution has called for vigilance against seperatist units operating which possess weapons that were seized from a police command post, who could pose a threat in the run-up to the general elections. Although the separists were weak, he said, they needed watching, especially in view of the fact that the seized weapons had not been found.

Government Urged To Halt 'Failed' Regional Expansion (10 Feb 2009)
Jakarta Globe, Putri Prameshwari - Proposals to create new administrative regions in the country should be frozen and evaluated for at least 10 years, a legal expert from a Central Java university said on Monday. The comment, made by Isharyanto, a law lecturer at 11 Maret University in Surakarta, Central Java Province, came a week after a violent protest demanding the establishment of a new province in northern Sumatra led to the death of a senior legislator and sparked calls for the government to halt the creation of new regions.

RI set to submit rights report (10 Feb 2009)
