The explosion at an electricity main station near an airport in Timika, Papua, on Sunday evening was part of a plan to sabotage vital installations belonging to PT Freeport Indonesia, a senior police officer said Monday.

The Dewan Adat Papua (Traditonal Council) has said that it will continue to press for the truth about the shooting dead of Opinus Tabuni during the celebration of Indigenous People's Day in Wamena last month which happened shortly after a Morning Star flag was unfurled. It also said the Indonesian government should accept responsibility for what happened.

The chief of police of Papua has said that the explosions at the electricity grid not far from the Moses Kilangin airfield in Mimika were directed against Freeport. 'Although noone has take responsibility, this was an act of sabotage against Freeport.
