Simon Fader, a Timika resident, died Tuesday morning after being treated for three days for gunshot injuries in a state hospital in Mimika Regency, Papua.

His family said he had been shot by a police officer during a scuffle at a bar in Timika on Sunday. Several police officers were also seriously injured in the incident.

Angered by Simon's death, some member of the family blockaded the main access road to Timika's Moses Kilangin Airport using wooden logs on Tuesday morning.

Mimika's mobile brigade unit removed the blockade. The Mimika Police are still guarding their offices in case the family tries to retaliate further. Police said previously they were still investigating the shooting incident. (dre)
