Papua Police on Friday raided an alleged crime syndicate producing firearms in a village in Abepura district, Jayapura.

Papua Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Wachyono said the raid was conducted by a team from Papua Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob), based on a report from its intelligence division.

“Papua Brimob arrested one suspect during the raid. His name is Petrus Tiong,” Wachyono said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

He added that police had gathered evidence in the form of one long rifle and 28 5.56-mm rounds of ammunition.

“We also secured tools used to make the firearms, including a drill and lathe. The evidence and the suspect are still at the Brimob command headquarters.”
